UPDATE – David Allan Coe Hospitalized

Country music legend David Allan Coe has been hospitalized in Ocala, Fla., after sustaining non-life-threatening injuries in a traffic accident in Ocala, Fla.

According to Ocala’s ABC Action News, David failed to stop at a red light and a crossing tractor-trailer collided with him, broadsiding the Chevy Suburban he was traveling in. The collision caused the tractor-trailer to overturn and slide into a traffic control box and cement light pole. The truck driver and his passenger were also taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. David has been cited for “violation of a traffic control device.”

David is best known for his hit single “You Never Even Called Me by My Name,” but he also wrote the Johnny Paycheck classic “Take This Job and Shove It.”

UPDATED MARCH 25:

According to his official facebook page, David Allan Coe suffered broken ribs from the seat belt, bruised kidneys and head trauma. None of his injuries were deemed life threatening and he is up, moving around and expected to make a full recovery. “He’s coming back a little at at time,” according to DAC’s website. “David is recuperating from his accident and he will be OK!”
