UPDATE – NOON EST: According to Willie’s Facebook page, his tour has been suspended indefinitely.
A tour bus carrying six of Willie Nelson’s band members crashed early Saturday morning outside of Sulphur Springs, Texas. The Texas Department of Public safety said Nelson was not on board the bus.
The accident happened at about 3:30 a.m. on westbound Interstate 30, near mile marker 122 when the bus hit a bridge pillar.
Trooper Sylvia Jennings says one band member suffered serious injuries while two other band members received minor injuries. All patients were taken to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Traffic was shut down in the area for a short time, but troopers determined damage to the bridge was not severe.
Nelson’s Facebook fan page said icy conditions contributed to the crash. Jennings said at the time of the crash there was rain and high wind.
According to the Willie Nelson’s website the singer and his band are scheduled to play at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, Miss., on Saturday night. The band had played Winstar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla., Friday night.
Sulphur Springs is about 80 miles northeast of Dallas in Hopkins County.
