‘America’s Got Talent’ Champion Dead At 42

Neal E. Boyd, America’s Got Talent Season 3 champion, died Sunday of sudden heart failure. He was 42.

According to TMZ Boyd passed away at his mother’s home in Sikeston, Missouri of apparent heart failure Sunday (June 10) evening around 6 p.m.. The opera singer had a known heart condition prior to his death.

The former insurance salesman won the heart of the nation back in 2008 after taking the AGT stage for an emotional audition of opera song “Nessun Dorma”. “I didn’t realize we were poor until my mama told me I was, but we got through,” he said prior to his audition. “It was my mom who really kept the family together… If it wasn’t for my mom, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to sing for the first time in first grade.”

Since stealing the heart of the nation, Boyd has performed at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida back in 2012, delivering a powerful rendition of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA.”
