After his beloved wife broke her wrist and was immediately forced to undergo surgery, the retired NHL player opens up about the injury and how this process has affected him.
Carrie Underwood had just finished up with her now-iconic CMA Awards performance that honored the victims of the Las Vegas shooting and was at her Nashville-area home when she took a nasty fall on the stairs outside her house. The superstar country singer broke her wrist and suffered bruising and other abrasions – but later it was revealed that the injury was much more serious than first described and Underwood was put into surgery just days later where doctors implanted metal hardware into the injury to ensure it heals properly.
Immediately following the injury, Mike Fisher rushed home to be by his wife’s side and help her during the recovery process. Now, Fisher has taken to social media and opened up about the ordeal and how he is viewing the unfortunate circumstances.
Thanking fans and friends for their support during this time, Fisher says that he’s “reminded that there are so many good people in this world.”
“I’m reminded that through our pain, fears and tough times God is with us and He’s painting a beautiful story through it all (Romas 8:28),” Fisher continued on, adding “Sometimes it’s hard to understand why things happen but we thank Him and Praise His name in the midst of it all! Thanks again!!”
Unfortunately, Underwood was forced to cancel her appearance at the Country Rising benefit concert following her injury and she also fell out of the qualifications for being inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame because she was unable to appear at the ceremony. Luckily, her other performances and appearances remain on the books and she seems to be getting all the treatment, help, and support she needs to recover and get back to doing what she loves!
