“Heartbroken.”

That is how Ashley Campbell described how she was feeling after her father, the legendary Glen Campbell passed away on August 8, 2017.  “I owe him everything I am, and everything I ever will be. He will be remembered so well and with so much love,” she continued writing in her Facebook post just hours after his passing.

As his family, and the country music world, mourned a huge loss, many artists paid homage to The Rhinestone Cowboy, but no tribute was as emotional as this one.

Performing on “Country’s Family Reunion Kickin’ Back Series,” Ashley performed a song she wrote a few years ago when she started seeing her father’s Alzheimer’s Disease progressing.

At the beginning of the song, she reveals about how she never had to ask her dad to sing for her because he was always doing it on his own, but by the end of the song, she explains that she now has to beg him to sing for her.

The heartbreaking chorus left the entire room filled with country stars in tears.

“Bone for bone we are the same
Bones get tired and they can’t carry all the weight
We can talk until you can’t even remember my name
Daddy don’t you worry, I’ll do the remembering
Daddy don’t you worry, I’ll do the remembering.”

Country legend Larry Gatlin can be seen wiping tears away after she sings the chorus. Each time the camera panned to a different audience member, each was more emotional than the last. Watch her performance of “Remembering” below.
