Congratulations are in order for Garth Brooks and wife Trisha Yearwood! They are now proud Grandparents.
In a statement email to the Tulsa World on Friday, the country icon, who lives in Owasso, said: “Our family would first like to thank everyone for their warm wishes and sweet celebration of Baby K’s arrival. Our children’s lives have always been extremely private and they have been endlessly encouraged to be their own people.
“We have always wanted them to be individuals and NOT be known as ‘someone’s daughters’. I have been amazed and grateful how the press has always respected this. I now ask that respect to please continue as this young family begins the greatest days of their lives.”
Brooks’ 19-year-old daughter August Anna Brooks and Owasso resident Chance Michael Russell gave birth to Karalynn earlier this week, their Facebook pages show. August graduated from Owasso High School this year and was attending the University of Oklahoma.
Brooks, 51, is one of the most successful solo recording musicians in history, across all genres. He retired from touring and releasing albums in 2000, at the peak of his career, and moved home to Oklahoma after he divorced Sandy, the mother to his three children. He married current wife Trisha Yearwood, 48, and the couple have lived in Owasso.
Brooks has said he has considered releasing new music and embarking on a tour with wife Trisha after his youngest, Allie Colleen, graduates high school next year. The eldest daughter, Taylor Mayne Pearl, was born in 1992.
