In the highly-anticipated remake of a Clint Eastwood blockbuster, the incredibly talented wife of a country music superstar shows off her acting chops yet again – but this time with a charming Southern twist.

This dark, brooding, and jealousy-filled flick is set during the Civil War and tells the story of an injured Yankee soldier (played by Colin Farrell) who happens upon an all-girls boarding school in rural Mississippi, where the headmistress (played by Nicole Kidman) reluctantly allows him to stay and recuperate.

Things take a turn for the worse when the soldier starts building relationships with the young women and charming them. Trapped in uncharted territory, the girls become jealous and deceitful toward one another over him, plotting both against him and the other girls. From there, events spiral out of control and turn quite dark in some surprising moments.

Entertainment Tonight‘s exclusive premiere of this clip from The Beguiled (2017) shows Kidman admonishing the girls for impure thoughts as the soldier’s presence had taken their focus from their studies.
