How Much Do ‘The Voice’ Coaches Make?

In 2011, a brand new singing competition took the world by storm. The Voice premiered on April 26, 2011 and now, almost seven years and four Emmy Awards, four People’s Choice Awards, six ASCAP Film and TV Music Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, four Critics’ Choice Awards, five Teen Choice Awards, and three TV Guide Awards later, there’s no sign of the show slowing down.

It is currently in its 16th season and it has produced countless stars and one incredible bromance. Aside from the incredible talent we get to watch every week, four people really make the show into what it is – entertaining TV!

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have been the constant staples on the show, as well as host Carson Daly, but the other two iconic red chairs are filled with different coaches each year to keep it interesting. Major superstars have sat in those chairs, and we’ve always wondered…How much does it cost The Voice to employ these huge names?

Shakira – $12 Million

Latin superstar Shakira sat next to Adam Levine for Seasons 4 and 6 and made a whopping $12 million per season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Although she never took home a win, she remains a fan favorite with her silly antics and unique coaching style.

Usher – $7 Million

Usher joined the cast the same season as Shakira and came back to join her again on Season 6, which he ultimately won with singer Josh Kaufman.

He negotiated a $7 million per season contract and was extremely happy with his time on the show. No word on whether he’d ever come back though.

Gwen Stefani – $10 Million

Gwen Stefani has coached for three seasons, and according to FeelGuide.com, her salary began at $10 Million in Season 7. Reports suggest her contract has gone unchanged in her three seasons.

Pharrell Williams – $8 Million

Singer and producer Pharrell joined the cast at the same time as Stefani, in Season 7. FeelGuide.com reports that his starting salary was $8 million.

He coached in four consecutive seasons, winning Season 8 with Sawyer Fredricks. Pharrell took a seat for Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys, which was the first time there was two female coaches at one time, which proved to be successful, seeing as they followed this formula for a few seasons.

Christina Aguilera – $17 Million

An original coach on The Voice, Christina Aguilera was not new to negotiating contracts. Having been in the spotlight since she was just 16 years old, Aguilera raked in a whopping $17 million for Season 3, according to TheWrap.com.

CheatSheet.com reports that she took a pay cut when she returned for Season 5, earning $12.5 million that year. She has appeared on six of the show’s eleven seasons, winning Season 10 with powerhouse vocalist Alisan Porter.

 

Adam Levine – $13 Million

One half of America’s favorite bromance, Adam Levine has appeared on every season of The Voice and has won three times – Season 1 with Javier Colon, Season 5 with Tessanne Chin, and Season 9 with Jordan Smith.

According to TheWrap.com, the Maroon 5 frontman makes $13 million a season.

Blake Shelton – $13 Million

The winningest coach on The Voice, with 6 wins, has been a force to be reckoned with throughout the years on the show. His banter with Levine is always enjoyable and he has gone to bat for the artists on his team time and time again. He is currently on tour and brought along his former teammates RaeLynn and last year’s champion, Sundance Head.

Shelton brings home $13 million per season in recent years, according to TheWrap.com although he started at around $8 million per season.

Kelly Clarkson – $15 Million

Variety reports that the two-time winner pulls in $560,000 per episode, which adds ups to around $15 million per season, making her salary the highest on The Voice. She has is currently in the midst of her third straight season in the iconic red chair, having won her first two seasons with Brynn Cartelli and Chevel Shepherd, respectively.
