Martina McBride had fans laughing, crying and on their feet dancing during her sold-out show at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium on Friday, September 28. The two-hour show, part of her One Night theater tour, was her first at the venue in eight years.
During her set at the Ryman, Martina spotted a 13-year-old in the audience with a sign reading ‘I want to sing with you.’ She brought the girl onstage, learned her name was Kate Falcon from Gadsden, Alabama, and asked her what she wanted to sing. The pair launched into Martina’s “Anyway” and it turned out Kate had a huge voice. Blown away, Martina sat down upstage to listen to Kate sing.
There were still more memorable moments for the crowd. When Martina performed “I’m Gonna Love You Through It,” tears fell throughout the crowd while dozens of fans stood up and wrapped arms with one another. Several members of ‘Team Martina,’ a group of loyal fans who have joined together to help cancer patients across the country, were also in the audience.
“People always ask me, ‘Do you ever get tired of it? Tired of performing and being out on the road?’” she said. “I never get tired of being here performing for you. I fall in love with it more and more every time. I am my happiest when I am performing for you.”
Martina will continue on her tour this week in front of more sold-out venues in Lancaster, Penn., Morgantown, West Virginia, Jim Thorpe, Penn., and Carmel, Ind. She’ll also embark on a Christmas-themed tour later this year and will join George Strait on his The Cowboy Rides Away Tour next year.
