Keith Urban has more than one reason to celebrate following Sunday’s (November 19) American Music Awards. In fact, he has three reasons to celebrate!
As one of the largest awards shows in the music industry, the AMAs honor artists of all genres, including pop, rock, soul, and country. The awards are unique in the fact that they are fan-voted, so its left up to the fans who wins each award.
Urban was up for a total of three awards at this year’s ceremony: Favorite Male Artist-Country, Favorite Album-Country for Ripcord, and Favorite Song-Country for “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” The first award that Urban was presented with at the ceremony was for Favorite Male Artist-Country.
It wasn’t long before Urban learned that he won in the other two categories he was nominated in. Before he even got the chance to give an acceptance speech for his first award, he was surprised with the news that he won the other two awards as well!

As you would expect, Urban was overwhelmed with joy upon learning that he was one of the night’s big winners. He thanked his fans first and foremost, saying, “You are the best in the world, I love you guys.” He also stopped to thank his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, saying, “Baby girl, I share these with you tonight and our girls.”
Following the ceremony, Urban continued to express his thanks to his fans. As he and Kidman waited in the car to leave, Urban took the time to film a video to thank his fans with a more in-depth statement:
“I just want to say, we just want to say, thank you to all you guys watching this, for voting for these three honors. It’s indescribable, I really, I can’t thank you guys enough…thank you, thank you every one of you.”
Kidman seemed equally overjoyed, and also wanted to thank Urban’s fans for voting for him. “You’re amazing, thank you,” she said sweetly.
Urban continued to thank his fans further, and also wished everyone a happy Thanksgiving holiday:
“I wish I had an hour to thank everyone, cause the amount of people that have worked on my album. There’s no way I could thank everyone. But right now, to all you guys watching…you are the best in the world, I love you all. happy Thanksgiving, happy holidays. Much blessings and love to you and all of your family, and we’ll see you soon.”
