Rising Country Star Asks Fans For Prayers

In 2015, country music singer/songwriter Mickey Guyton made a powerful debut with her first single, “Better Than You Left Me.” Guyton co-wrote the song with Jennifer Hanson and Jenn Schott. She chose to debut it during her January 10, 2015 appearance at the Grand Ole Opry, and followed up by releasing the song two days later.

“Better Than You Left Me” peaked at the 34th spot on the Billboard country chart in the U.S. and reached the 42nd spot on the Canadian chart. Guyton followed up the success of her debut single with a second, “Heartbreak Song.” Released in June 2016, “Heartbreak Song” once again cracked the Top 50 on the Billboard chart.

The success of Guyton’s first two singles helped establish her as a rising star in country music. In 2016, she received one of the greatest honors a new artist could ever dream of when she was nominated for the ACM Award for New Female Vocalist of the Year. The award ended up going to Kelsea Ballerini instead, but Guyton’s star has continued to rise.

As Guyton’s popularity has grown, she’s managed to develop a loyal fan base. Now, she is calling on that fan base to pray for a special person in her life…her grandmother.

In June 2015, Guyton revealed that her grandmother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. She shared a sweet snapshot of her with her grandmother in honor of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, writing “my grandma doesn’t know who I am most of the time but I know she loves me.”

Now, Guyton’s grandmother and her family is in desperate need of prayers. As Guyton shared on Twitter on Wednesday (January 11), her grandmother has taken a turn for the worse.

Pray for comfort as she makes a new transition,” she wrote.

Prayers and sympathetic thoughts for Guyton and her family came flooding in from Guyton’s fans. She has provided no further update since making her prayer request. We will be sure to let you know if she has anything else to share.

Normally, Guyton isn’t one to share personal matters with fans. When she got engaged in November 2016, it came as a surprise to many, since she had never really talked about her relationship before.

I can be pretty private when it comes to matters of my heart,” she wrote in the caption to an Instagram post announcing her engagement.

We will certainly be keeping Guyton, her grandmother, and their family in our prayers during this tough time.
