The Oak Ridge Boys Share Their Thoughts About Trump’s Inauguration

The American Legion

On January 20, Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States. Plans for his inauguration are well underway, and a handful of country stars are involved in some of the festivities.

For the longest time, it was rumored that Garth Brooks was considering performing for Trump’s inauguration. But Brooks quickly put those rumors to rest.

Even without Brooks, country music will still be well-represented during the events surrounding the inauguration. The Randy Rogers Band agreed to perform at the 2017 Black Tie and Boot Presidential Inaugural Ball, and country duo Big & Rich were announced as the headliners of the Record Industry Association of America’s charity event.

One country group wishes they could have been involved in the inauguration day festivities, but their touring schedule got in the way. The Oak Ridge Boys have a show scheduled in New Braunfels, Texas, on the night of the inauguration, and are unable to make it to Washington D.C.

The Oak Ridge Boys’ packed tour schedule also keeps them from performing at any of the events taking place in the days surrounding the inauguration. They have shows in Texas the day before the inauguration and two more Texas shows in the days following it.

Although the Oak Ridge Boys will be in Texas on inauguration day, they’ll be in Washington D.C. in spirit. As the band shared with their fans on Twitter, they would have been “honored” to perform at the inauguration.

The Oak Ridge Boys’ tour continues throughout the year, and will take them to various cities across the country. They’ll make stops in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Newberry, South Carolina, and Celina, Ohio, just to name a few.

True country music icons, the Oak Ridge Boys were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2015. 15 years prior, they were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Some of the Oak Ridge Boys’ other honors include numerous CMA, ACM, and GMA Dove Awards, along with five Grammy Awards. Most of their Grammys were for their gospel material, but their last one was for their performance of their iconic song “Elvira.”

Those who see the Oak Ridge Boys on tour will surely be on the edge of their seats as they listen to the group sing “Elvira.” They put on some electrifying live performances, and “Elvira” is the one song that always drives the crowd wild.

Tune in below to watch their Oak Ridge Boys perform “Elvira.” We know you’ll love it!
