We’re still sad that George Strait’s touring career has come to a close. However that career went out with a BANG last Saturday night. After a concert filled with star studded duets, the entire cast joined King George on stage at Arlington, Texas’ AT&T Stadium for a “Grand” finale of epic proportions.
Strait was joined on stage by Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow, Martina McBride, Kenny Chesney, and Faith Hill. Asleep At The Wheel was there too. That’s a very impressive cast considering it was CMA Fest weekend in Nashville
The finale started off with Al My Exes Live In Texas. As you can hear below the crowd of over 100,000 fans were in full throat singing along with every word.
the company was far from done. Next up they launched into a rollickin’ version of Johnny Cash’ Folsom Prison Blues.
then it was finally time for “The Cowboy” to ride away, as everyone sang the tour’s signature and namesake song. The historic moment was bittersweet but celebratory as the end was signified with confetti and balloons coming down from the rafters.
It was a Texas sized farewell and end to this chapter in King George’s career.
