One of the beautiful parts of country music’s unmatched storytelling is the raw emotion contained from the singer’s own experience and understanding of the tale that’s being told – this is nowhere more evident in songs that illustrate finding love – an emotion that the world of country music is full of!
Throughout the years we have seen lots of love stories decorate the diverse and beautiful landscape of country music, bringing happiness and joy to many of our beloved artists – but some of those tales are seemingly woven from the strands of fairytales and even others clearly have such a burning love that you can see the spark when they enter a room.
From Johnny & June to Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, here are some of the most inspiring stories of love throughout country music!
7. Keith Urban & Nicole Kidman
A celebrity power combo of amazing country singing and award-winning acting, these two Aussies found in each other something everlasting, real, and beautiful. Not many marriages, let alone celebrity marriages, could have survived the trials that these two have and it only goes to show that love can truly conquer all.
6. Clint Black & Lisa Hartman Black
Another singer/actress pairing, this couple met for the first time during a New Year’s Eve party back in the early ’90s. They dated for several years before finally tying the knot, and have been inseparable ever since. Although Hartman’s profession was originally singing, she has grown into a talented singer and often performs the couple’s famous duet alongside her husband during shows!
5. Dolly Parton and Carl Dean
While often rumored to be dating whoever she’s singing or acting with, Dolly Parton has been madly in love with Carl Dean for more than 50 years – and recently celebrated that milestone by renewing their vows in May 2016! They have been each other’s rock for a lifetime and still remain dedicated to each other, but Carl still doesn’t want any part of the limelight and stays fairly well out of sight of cameras.
4. Carrie Underwood & Mike Fisher
A match made in heaven, this pairing of sports icon and country princess survived through years of long distances as Mike was living in Canada when they first met, and eventually got traded to Nashville so that he could spend much more time with his beloved wife. Since they said “I Do” they’ve welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world and have been having a blast raising him and growing close as a family.
3. Joey + Rory Feek
A tale of love, loss, and our Lord, Joey and Rory soared as a country duo for years – bringing their joy to an incredibly dedicated fan base and sharing the gifts God had blessed them with. You could see their love shine as clear as day when they were together, and we all had hoped it would continue forever like that…but tragically, Joey passed away in early 2016 following a long battle with cancer.
2. Faith Hill & Tim McGraw
Finding each other on the stage of a country concert, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have chartered a course throughout country music that has never been done the same way before. They made a pact when they first got married – a pact that they would never be apart longer than three days. They credit this as one of the foundations to their successful marriage and happy family of five!
1. George & Norma Strait
Known as The King and Queen of Country Music, the Strait’s grew up as high school sweethearts and have been together ever since! Married since the early ’70s, they’ve found success as a couple and survived the turbulent career of a worldwide superstar among other tragedies, but have always been side-by-side, holding hands.
Norma definitely checked “Yes” when George handed her that note!
Honorable Mentions: Kellie Pickler & Kelsea Ballerini
Kellie Pickler and her husband Kyle Jacobs are one fun pair – and super cute to boot! Just listen to her hysterical story about waking him up! They even had a reality show about their lives on CMT.
As a secondary honorable mention, Kelsea Ballerini and fellow country music singer husband Morgan Evans are always making cute gestures to one another on social media and expressing their undying love. They definitely are a match made in heaven.
