In January 2015, legendary rocker Steven Tyler moved to Nashville to work on new material for a solo endeavor. Since he uprooted to Music City, many people thought he might be doing a country album – and they were exactly right.
That April, he signed a record deal with Dot Records, a subsidiary of Big Machine Records, and went to work. On May 13, he released his debut country album, We’re All Somebody From Somewhere.
The album included a new version of Aerosmith’s “Janie’s Got A Gun” and the iconic “Piece of My Heart,” as well as 13 new tracks, 11 of which were co-written by Tyler himself.
Tyler is a huge country music fan and considers The Everly Brothers, Dan Hicks, and Patsy Cline as some of his biggest influences since he was a kid. He even performed Cline’s “Crazy” on the TV show Nashville with Hayden Panettiere’s character Juliette Barnes.
The first release of the much-anticipated album, which went to number one on the country charts, was a song called “Love Is Your Name,” written by Eric Paslay and Lindsay Lee.
The song begins with an auto-harp intro and features fiddles and banjos throughout. Tyler’s signature raspy tone is a perfect fit for the uplifting song about love. He released the single to country radio on May 13, 2015, and an accompanying music video dropped on July 3.
Directed by Trey Fanjoy, the video features Tyler singing on the porch of a country home, and joining an epic hippie-Esque celebration in a grassy field, The party goes so long, it lasts until they can light a bonfire and enjoy the starry sky.
The song is so catchy, we haven’t been able to get it out of our heads since its release three years ago!
