Joanna Gaines is a pretty savvy and creative lady. But while making Christmas ornaments with the newest addition to the family, Baby Crew – she forgot to look out for one thing that could have been disastrous!

Salt Dough Handprint Ornaments

One sweet keepsake that parents love to have is a handprint ornament from their baby’s first Christmas. You could spend lots of money and pay to have it done – or you could follow Joanna’s lead and make it yourself.

How To Make The Ornament

What You’ll Need

The only ingredients you need to make this simple ornament are a cup of flour,  1/2 cup of salt, and 1/2 cup of water. After that, you can decorate them however you want with acrylic paint, glitter, and ribbons!

  5. Place your art on a cooking sheet. Take your baby’s hand and dip it in water to prevent it from sticking. Then, place their hand on the dough to leave an imprint.

The One Thing To Look Out For

Seems simple enough, right? Just make sure you don’t make the same mistake Joanna recently posted about on her Instagram story. While working with Baby Crew to imprint his hand, she forgot to move the ceramic bowl she used for water away once she dipped his hand in it. The result? He almost accidentally knocked it over!
