Miley’s Not Just A Pop Star

Miley Cyrus may be labeled as a pop singer, but she’s proven before that she has the versatility to make her voice fit any genre.

For example, her cover of her godmother Dolly Parton‘s signature hit, “Jolene,” is regarded by many as one of the best covers of the song ever recorded.

When she appeared on The Tonight Show to talk about her then-new role as a coach on The Voice, Cyrus had a surprise in store for the crowd.

Instead of performing one of her own songs, she decided to cover an old tune that was penned by Bob Dylan.

The track, called “Baby, I’m in the Mood for You,” was covered by American folk singer Odetta in 1965, and it was her version that Cyrus styled her own performance after.

Her Voice Is The Perfect Fit

Singing with host Jimmy Fallon’s band The Roots, Cyrus’ cover was full of energy.

It seems the song was the perfect pick for Cyrus, because it gave her the chance to show off the extent of her talent. She played with her range and volume throughout the song and growled through some parts in a stunning stylistic way.

Even those who had never considered themselves to be fans of Cyrus in the past said after her performance that they couldn’t deny her talent as a vocalist. You may be surprised yourself when you watch her performance in the video below. It’s quite delightful, so check it out!
