Dolly Parton Watches Fan Covers Of “9 to 5,” “Jolene,” & More

Glamour / YouTube

In the past few years, Glamour has had famous singers come and participate in a show they call “You Sang My Song.” In the video, the singer watches fan covers from YouTube of some of their biggest songs and react to them.

Then, a few days later, Glamour shows the reaction to the original performer, allowing them to react to the reaction. It’s safe to say some or the YouTubers freak out a bit!

While Glamour has gotten lots of different singers to sign on to participate, the latest video, which was released on October 15, starred Dolly Parton!

The first set of covers she watched were of her song “9 to 5,” which she wrote for her film of the same name in 1980. The first cover she watched was a funk version, which she highly complimented, saying the female singer hit notes that she couldn’t.

The next was from a country singer named Angie Keilhauer, whose enthusiastic guitar strumming wowed the country legend.

“You go girl!” Parton said. “Oh that’s great. I could tell just by your singing that you’ve got a little spark in there.”

“Gosh, she’s amazing…I love her so much,” Angie said wiping a tear from her eye. “She’s the reason that I’m a country artist. I can never be able to tell her what kind of effect she’s had on my life. It’s definitely going to be a moment that I remember forever.”

She watched and reacted to covers of “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” and “Hard Candy Christmas.”
