From street corners to sold-out arenas in just a few hours!

14-year-old Sam Clifford was performing on Grafton Street in Dublin, Ireland – like he does frequently – when a long-haired country singer happened to hear his set.

Keith Urban was in town for the Country to Country Festival – also known as C2C – at 3Arena, and loved what he heard so much that he approached the young busker to invite him to play a song with him that very night during his headlining set!

What Is C2C?

C2C is a country music festival that takes place across the pond. 2021’s C2C festival stopped in Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Glasgow, and Dublin.

Headliners included Keith Urban, Chris Stapleton, and Lady Antebellum. Urban is the only performer to headline in all five cities. Check out the line-up announcement below.

Keith Meets Sam

Urban took some time out of his set to tell the audience about how he met young Sam Clifford just a few hours before taking the stage on March 10.

“I went out and took a stroll today and was listening to some of the buskers out there – ’cause I did a little bit of that growing up, playing street corners, hoping people would listen to me,” he told the arena. “I was cruising down the street when I saw this kid playing and I stopped and listened to him for a while. I loved his vibe and I loved his spirit.”

Urban then revealed that he invited the kid to play a song with him, and then introduced Sam Clifford to the screaming audience, which didn’t seem to phase the teenager one bit!

Clifford and Urban began playing the George Ezra song “Shotgun,” and hundreds in the audience began singing and clapping along. The busker sang lead, while Urban harmonized; how often does that happen?!

The audience clearly loved their collaborations, and according to a post on Clifford’s Instagram, he called it the “best experience of my life.”
