One particular puppy beat all the odds after being born with a rare genetic condition. Affectionately named Skipper, the Neel Veterinary Hospital in Oklahoma City say she is a miracle and they believe she is the first dog with six legs to be born alive.

Skipper is an Aussie/ Border Collie mix that was born with two unique disorders called monocephalus dipygus and monocephalus rachipagus dibrachius tetrapus. This means she has only one head and chest cavity, but two pelvic regions, two lower urinary tracts, two reproductive systems, two tails and six legs.

According to the Neel Veterinary Hospital, it is likely that she was going to have a litter mate but the two did not separate in utero. Despite the many complications, her organs appear to be in great shape, she nurses well and is growing. All of her legs move and respond to stimulus just like a normal puppy.

Skipper is home now and is starting to explore her surroundings and has even learned to climb out of her bed. Her owner has started a GoFundMe for skipper in order to take care of the inevitable vet bills and physical therapy that skipper is likely to go through.
