Christian rock band Third Day made their debut in 1990s with founding members Mac Powell,  Mark Lee, and Billy Wilkins. Over the years, the band has sold over 7 million albums and become a household name among music fans thanks to their mainstream success in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

Powell and Lee are the only members who have been with the band in its entirety, making them most recognizable to the band’s fans. Powell has amassed a 77,000+ following on Instagram and recently shared some unfortunate news.

His beloved wife of 23 years, Aimee, whom he shares five children with, was complaining of terrible headaches Saturday morning (November 30). Powell wrote on Instagram that an ambulance rushed her to the hospital, where she was given a CT scan. Doctors found some bleeding in her brain which they “believe is an aneurysm.”

At the time of his post, she was undergoing “a procedure to find the problem.” Although doctors seemed optimistic, he asked his fans to “please pray!!!”

Later on Saturday, Powell updated his fans.

He said, “In the procedure they were able to put in 2 coils which will keep the aneurysm from bleeding and possibly rupturing. Her head is hurting really bad. She’ll be kept for many days to be tested and monitored. Thankful for many friends, family, and prayers!

Powell also posted a photo of Aimee in her hospital bed, with her mom by her side.

Sunday afternoon Powell gave another update.

“Aimee is in a lot of pain in her head. They have given her meds for it but nothing will completely help. They say the pain is going to be there. Eventually as the blood from the rupture leaves her brain it will work it’s way down to the neck and then her back,” Powell wrote. “She’s getting a lot of rest- unfortunately, it’s usually only about 10 minutes of uninterrupted time with all the doctor and nurse visits and the alarms and beeps from the monitors. She hasn’t eaten in probably 36 hrs or so.”

He continued, “Pray that her appetite starts to return so that she’ll get the strength to start moving a little bit. All signs are good so far. There doesn’t seem to be any negative neurological signs yet for physical or mental deficiencies. Thanks for your love and prayers!”

Aimee was all smiles just five days before her headaches – on November 25 – when the family had a photo shoot.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Aimee on a speedy recovery, as well as the rest of her family during this time.
