During Season 2 Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan didn’t tell contestants, “You’re going to Hollywood!” Instead, for the second season of the ABC reboot, hopefuls will compete in the second round of competition in Hawaii!

40 contestants traveled to Hawaii to perform for the judges, and hundreds of people in the crowd in January of 2019.

“The judges are going to talk about what they saw, who they thought was good, who they thought wasn’t. They’ll then sleep on it and in the morning they’ll make their final decision,” said showrunner Trish Kinane. “Then at the stage where the Aulani does the luau, that’s going to be our final judgment place.”
Even though he was there for work, Bryan fully embraced being in Hawaii and even said “one of the best parts” wasn’t even judging the performances, it was an interaction he had with a little girl on the beach.
In a video posted to his Instagram, the little girl taught Bryan how to say “I love singing” in sign language. It was a truly adorable moment that proved that Bryan is one of the good ones.
