Look At All This Guy Has Accomplished
At this point, almost every country music fan has at least heard the name “Luke Combs” once in their lives. After all, he’s currently one of the genres biggest stars, with four number one hits to his name.
They’re all songs that you’re sure to know: “Hurricane,” “When It Rains It Pours,” “One Number Away,” and “She Got the Best of Me.”
In addition to conquering the charts, Combs had made a name for himself at various industry awards shows. He’s currently up for his first-ever Grammy Award, having been nominated in the all-genre Best New Artist category.
It’s a category that Combs seems well-poised to win, considering his recent achievement at the CMA Awards in November, where he was handed the New Artist of the Year trophy.

A Reason To Celebrate
But whether he wins the Grammy on February 10 or not, Combs still has a pretty huge reason to celebrate. That’s because he just became the first country artist in 19 years to accomplish a feat that many likely considered to be impossible.
Billboard reports that for the first time since 2000, an artist simultaneously has two songs (without any featured acts) in the Top 10 of the Country Airplay chart. That artist is Combs, and the songs that helped him reach this feat are his current single, “Beautiful Crazy,” and his previous chart-topper, “She Got the Best of Me.”
As of press time, “Beautiful Crazy” and “She Got the Best of Me” are sitting at the tenth and eighth positions on the chart, respectively.
The Feat Luke Had To Meet
So if Combs is the first artist to reach this feat in nearly two decades, who was the artist that accomplished the same thing back in 2000? Well, it was none other than Tim McGraw.
McGraw’s “My Best Friend” and “Something Like That” sat at the fifth and the tenth positions on the Country Airplay chart that dates to January 15, 2000.
It was a noteworthy accomplishment at the time. So noteworthy, that it went unmatched until Combs came along and conquered the chart. Down the road, future country artists will now aspire to match the feat that he set…only time will tell how long that may take.
It Gets Even Better
As if reaching a seemingly impossible chart milestone wasn’t enough, the entrance of “Beautiful Crazy” into the Country Airplay‘s Top 10 contributes to another major career accomplishment for Combs. The song is now his fifth straight career-opening Country Airplay Top 10.

In other words, every single Combs has released has climbed into the chart’s Top 10 spots. He’s also yet to have a single that hasn’t topped that chart, so stay tuned to see if “Beautiful Crazy” becomes his fifth number one.
We’d say the likelihood of that happening seems promising, considering that “Beautiful Crazy” was a viral hit with fans long before it was released as a single.
To sum it up, Combs is conquering the country music world right now, and just proved it by matching the accomplishment that McGraw reached so many years ago.
Congratulations to Combs on this grand achievement…he definitely earned it!
