Season 1 of Lioness debuted in July 2023. Its first two episodes set a record for Paramount+ at the time, becoming the service’s most-watched series premiere in the first 24 hours after its debut.

The show’s second season started in October 2024 and ended in December 2024. Season 2 was also successful, and the show currently has an overall viewer rating of 7.8 out of 10 stars on IMDb.

Now, nearly one year after Season 2 concluded, Lioness has been renewed for Season 3. Paramount confirmed the news on Wednesday (October 1). The Hollywood Reporter reports that the show’s third season was delayed due to the stars’ schedules.

Nicole Kidman Will Reprise Her Role In Lioness Following Her Divorce From Keith Urban

It remains unknown when Lioness‘ third season will premiere or when filming will resume. Although the full cast list hasn’t been released, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman are returning to reprise their roles as Joe McNamara and Kaitlyn Meade.

The news of Kidman’s return to Lioness comes amid her divorce from country singer Keith Urban. The couple had been married for 19 years before Kidman filed divorce paperwork in a Tennessee court on September 30. She and Urban share two daughters, 17-year-old Sunday Rose and 14-year-old Faith Margaret.

Both Urban and Kidman will be kept busy in the coming months. Urban is currently on his High and Alive World Tour and will star in the new reality competition series, The Road, alongside Blake Shelton and Gretchen Wilson. Coincidentally, Lioness creator Taylor Sheridan is also an executive producer on The Road.

In addition to reprising her role in Lioness, Kidman has several projects in the works. She just finished filming Practical Magic 2 and will appear in an upcoming Amazon Prime series, Scarpetta. She will play Dr. Kay Scarpetta and serve as one of the series’ executive producers.

Also, Kidman will star alongside Elle Fanning in a new series for Apple TV+, called Margo’s Got Money Troubles. The series is expected to debut on the streaming service in 2026.
