Marshals Marks The Next Chapter In The Yellowstone Universe
CBS’s new series Marshals is set to expand the world of Yellowstone, shifting the spotlight entirely onto Kayce Dutton. The show follows John Dutton’s son as he makes a major life change, stepping into a new role with an elite U.S. Marshals unit.
Luke Grimes reprises his role as Kayce, with several familiar faces from the original series expected to appear. The spin-off also introduces a new character, Pete “Cal” Calvin, played by Logan Marshall-Green, who is described as a trusted friend from Kayce’s military days.
Now leading a U.S. Marshals team in Montana, Kayce is joined by his son Tate, played by Brecken Merrill. This new chapter follows his decision to sell the family ranch and start fresh after the events of Yellowstone’s series finale.
Riley Green Makes His Acting Debut
Longtime viewers are of course seeing a few familiar faces since the show is a follow-up, but it also introduces many brand-new characters as well.
One character, in particular, had fans eagerly waiting. When the first trailer for season one dropped, sharp-eyed viewers caught a fleeting moment that many might have missed, a quick glimpse of none other than Riley Green.
That split-second appearance was enough to spark major buzz, with fans speculating about the country singer’s potential role in the western drama. While it hinted at an acting debut, CBS stayed silent on the matter at the time. It wasn’t until late February that the network finally confirmed he would be part of the series.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the show’s premiere, the singer shared that he was introduced to the opportunity by his longtime friend and the show’s star, Luke Grimes.
On Sunday (April 19), the wait was finally over, and Riley officially made his acting debut on the new hit series! The episode kicked off with Riley’s character, Garrett’s, arrival.
Garrett grapples with what Riley has called “extreme PTSD,” something he explained was really challenging to take on.

Riley Shares The One Thing Producers Instructed Him To Keep
During a recent interview with USA Today, Riley explained the reason behind why Garrett looks so similar to the country singer in real life.
“I guess I look sort of Western with the mustache, the scruffy beard and I cut my own hair half the time when I’m on the road. It isn’t much of a stretch from me what Garrett looks and dresses like,” Riley recalled.
He shared how producers told him he couldn’t change much about his signature look, including his infamous mustache.
“The tough part for me through these two months of filming was I couldn’t wake up and shave in the morning if I wanted to. I’m pretty bad. If it’s hot out, I just shave it off randomly.”

Along with acting for the first time, Riley also debuted a new song, “My Way,” which he will perform in this next week’s episode.
“When I was told I was performing, and I didn’t know I was at first, I thought 100% this song was so perfect for that moment, ” Riley said of the song. “There are some songs that are very cowboy-type songs.”
