The Road Premieres On CBS October 19 – What Is It About?
The grand prize that 12 aspiring performers will be competing for on The Road has been revealed.
The Road is a new competition series premiering on CBS on October 19. Two of the show’s executive producers are country music superstar Blake Shelton and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.
Shelton will also appear on the show alongside “headliner” Keith Urban and “tour manager” Gretchen Wilson.

The 12 contestants will learn if they have what it takes to be a touring artist. They’ll open for Urban on tour to see how a live audience responds to their personality and performances.
As the tour manager, Wilson will offer advice and support to the contestants as they navigate the competition.
“Stepping into the role of ‘tour manager’ for THE ROAD has allowed me to take everything I’ve learned over all of my years of touring and pour it right back into these emerging musicians,” Wilson said. “Helping them sharpen their talents to capture the attention of these crowds across America, and guiding them through the real and raw grind of life on the road, has been a highlight of my career.”
The Road introduced its cast on June 25. The contestants are:

- Billie Jo Jones – From Emory, Texas
- Blaine Bailey – From Tahlequah, Oklahoma
- Briana Adams – From Winchester, Texas
- Britnee Kellogg – From Anthem, Arizona
- Cassidy Daniels – From Marion, North Carolina
- Channing Wilson – From LaFayette, Georgia
- Cody Hibbard – From Adair, Oklahoma
- Forrest McCurren – From Jefferson City, Missouri
- Jenny Tolman – From Nashville, Tennessee
- Jon Wood – From Wake Forest, North Carolina
- Olivia Harms – From Canby, Oregon
One Contestant Will Win A Life-Altering Prize On The Road
On Wednesday (August 13), The Road shared a “first look” video previewing the show and revealing the grand prize.
The video includes clips of the 12 contestants performing onstage for Urban’s fans. You can tell how honored and amazed they were to have an opportunity to sing in front of such a large crowd.
However, Wilson hinted at the experience being more challenging than it seemed, telling the camera, “Opening for Keith’s audiences is not for the faint of heart.“
Only one of the 12 contestants will walk away from The Road with a life-altering prize. The winner will receive $250,000 and a record contract.
