Blake Shelton Says He Wants “Boring” Music At Wedding, Asks Adam Levine

The Voice / Facebook

Blake Shelton just revealed his ideal wedding band, and the answer makes perfect sense.

In a way, the singing competition, The Voice, was Shelton’s fairy godmother. The show introduced Shelton to his fiancée, Gwen Stefani, but The Voice also ignited a friendship with former judge Adam Levine. The two singers shared a brotherly bond on the show that included plenty of teasing.

In a virtual interview with Late Night With Seth MeyersShelton revealed that he already knew who he wanted to play on his wedding day. Shelton stated:

“He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play our wedding.”

Adam Levine’s band Maroon 5 previously crashed weddings for the music video to the song “Sugar.” Shelton referenced the video as leverage for his musical request.

“I’ve already seen a music video where they crash people’s weddings, and he owes me a lot for just putting up with him over the years,” Blake decided. “So I think we can get Adam to come be our wedding band.”

True to Shelton’s onscreen relationship with Levine, the country star could not help but poke fun at his friend. The “God’s Country” singer (jokingly) revealed the real reason he wanted Levine to perform. Shelton told Meyers:

“Plus, their music is so boring that it won’t distract from the festivities and the reception and all that stuff.”
