Their bond was unlike any other. Country music legend Glen Campbell and his youngest daughter, Ashley, connected on many things, especially their love for music. When he passed away on August 8, she revealed in a Facebook post that she was “heartbroken.”
“I owe him everything I am, and everything I ever will be. He will be remembered so well and with so much love,” she wrote on Facebook.

Glen was laid to rest last Wednesday (August 9) in his hometown of Delight, Arkansas in a private ceremony, according to an update on his official Facebook page.
Almost a week after his death, Ashley provided a heartbreakingly beautiful letter to country music news outlet Sounds Like Nashville about her father.
“Dear Reader,” she wrote. “Many of you know my father, Glen Campbell as the guitar player, singer, and international icon that he was. Some of you may know him as the wonderful man and friend he was to so many people. I had the privilege of knowing Glen Campbell as a father. I also had the honor and privilege of caring for my dad through his entire journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Music was the thing that could bring him back to us when the fog would pull him just a little further away.
She continued, “When I wrote ‘Remembering’ I knew there would come a time when he wouldn’t know who I am and I was looking for a way to be able to reach him, even when he seemed lost. I wrote this song to bring him comfort and to let him know that I would always be there for him. Now, after he has passed, when I sing this song, I feel like he is reaching back for me as I reached for him. I can feel him with me in the music and he is comforting me now.”
She ended the poignant letter by writing, “Thank you for remembering my father with me.”
We will continue to keep Ashley and her family in our prayers. Watch her perform her song “Remembering” below.
