Video captured on the coast of Pensacola, Florida showed a beachgoer getting a little spooked after a couple of hammerhead sharks swam underneath her.
“Shrieks and laughter could be heard by adults and children nearby as the sharks’ fins began to emerge from the water over the Memorial Day weekend,” FOX reported.
Jacqueline Lesso, originally from Alabama was visiting Pensacola with her daughter and a group of her friends when the sharks approached. She had her phone out filming from the boat as her daughter and friends laid on a large floating raft in the water.
The video showed the sharks lurking near the girls before swimming towards the shoreline where more people were eagerly walking towards them to see.
Her daughter on the float had just recently broken her foot and couldn’t easily move. She was also beginning to panic a little bit as the sharks circled and swam underneath them.
“Two people sitting on a float nearby appeared to be unbothered by the hammerheads, while the third told someone to “shut up” when they said the sharks were right under her,” FOX reported her saying.
The majority of the people in the water were actually remaining calm and some even walked alongside the creatures trying to get a better look at them.
“None of the sharks were aggressive in any way and the screaming was more of excitement than hysteria,” Jacqueline said, according to FOX.“A lesson learned to keep your cool and stay calm.”
