Tennessee Mayor Found Dead At Home

Mountain City, Tennessee is in mourning.

According to local publication The Tomahawk, the city’s mayor, 50-year-old Kevin Parsons has passed away.

“He was found at his home,” Mountain City Police Chief Denver Church said. “There are no signs of foul play.”

Vice Mayor Bud Crosswhite will serve as mayor until the November 3 election.

Mountain City is a small town in Johnson County of just 3.3-square-miles and is home to around 2,500 people. The Steve Earle song “Copperhead Road” is set in Mountain City.

Police Chief Church told The Tomahawk an autopsy will be performed to find out the cause of death. Our thoughts and prayers are with Parsons’ family and friends.
