Honoring & Remembering Nightbirde – The Talented AGT Star Who Moved Millions With her Music

Fans of America’s Got Talent will never forget Nightbirde. The talented young singer moved millions with her story. She battled cancer, but never seemed to lose hope. She expressed that hope in her original song “It’s OK,” which she performed for her audition on AGT.

Judge Simon Cowell was so moved by Nightbirde’s performance, he awarded her his Golden Buzzer.

Sadly, Nightbirde’s first time performing on AGT was also her last. Her health worsened after her audition, and she had to drop out of the competition.

Nightbirde passed away on February 19, 2022. She was 31 years old.

Youth Choir Appears On AGT To Honor Nightbirde With Audition performance

Two years later, another AGT act auditioned by performing “It’s OK” in tribute to Nightbirde. That act was the Mzansi Youth Choir from South Africa.

The judges watched in amazement as the choir sang “It’s OK.” They immediately recognized Nightbirde’s song, and were clearly touched.

Mzansi Youth Choir enhanced their performance with beautifully choreographed dance moves. That made their audition even more spectacular than it already was.

When the group finished singing, all four judges flew to their feet to give the choir a well-deserved standing ovation. They expressed how moved they were to hear a group from the other side of the world performing Nightbirde’s signature song.

The choir’s performance deeply affected Cowell, who was crying as he addressed them. With his voice breaking, Cowell said, “I know how much this would have meant to her.” He also called their performance “the most amazing tribute” and said it was “breathtaking.

The crowd started chanting for the choir to receive the Golden Buzzer. During this season, AGT introduced a new Golden Buzzer opportunity. The crowd was able to choose a Golden Buzzer recipient for the first time ever. They made it clear they wanted Mzansi Youth Choir to be their Golden Buzzer act.
