For the first time ever, we are seeing Maisy Stella sing by herself! One-half of the duo Lennon and Maisy, we are normally used to seeing her perform with her older sister, Lennon.

On the CMT hit show Nashville, they also play sisters Daphne and Maddie Conrad. At just 13 years old, Maisy has been singing on television for five years already, proving her incredible talent. Now, she’s taking that talent to another show.

She made her solo music debut with a special version of “Riding Free”, the theme song for the new Netflix series Spirit Riding Free, based on the 2002 Oscar-nominated movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

The music video shows her recording the song in the studio surrounded by her friends and bestie Mackenzie Ziegler of Dance Moms fame. They also go outside to play with horses, since it is a show about a horse.

“I was so excited; I said yes immediately. I was super excited because it was so fun to do,” Stella told Entertainment Tonight. “It was so fun to get to work with DreamWorks [Animation Television]. It’s such a cute song and the video is awesome.”

While she said it “was a little weird” doing a project without her sister, shooting the video went extremely well! “It ended up going the best it possibly could have,” she recalls.

Don’t worry fans, she and Lennon will always sing music together, but this was an experience she just couldn’t turn down.

Take a look at her solo debut below and let us know what you think in the comments.
