The NBC Sitcom Happy’s Place Stars Reba McEntire
While Reba McEntire is the biggest name in the cast, the new sitcom Happy’s Place is an ensemble show.
Alongside McEntire, Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman, Rex Linn, Tokala Black Elk, and Pablo Castelblanco round out the cast.
They portray employees at Happy’s Place, a bar once owned by Reba’s character’s father, Happy. Now managed by her character, Bobbie, the bar/restaurant takes on new challenges when she discovers her father had a much younger child from an affair. Happy left half of the bar to Bobbie’s newly discovered half-sister in his will, forcing the two women to navigate their newfound relationship and the business together.
Like their characters, Belissa and Reba have created a close bond.
Happy’s Place Will Return For Season 2
As they were wrapping up Season One of the hit sitcom, McEntire was able to tell the cast and crew that NBC had picked up their show for a second season. They were all about to walk out to film the final episode of Season One, so it was already an emotional day.

“We got picked up for a second season,” Reba said. “What a gift! Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord!”
The rest of the cast can be seen in the video hugging each other, crying, and celebrating the incredible announcement.
What Do Reba’s Co-Workers Think Of Her?
To celebrate the final episodes of Season One, Escobedo stopped by NBC4 Los Angeles to talk everything Happy’s Place.
She was asked what exactly is Reba McEntire like.
Without hesitation, Escobedo said, “Queen of country, queen of sitcoms. She’s truly one of the sweetest, most hardworking, and most genuine people. She comes into work with a smile every day. She’s doing two shows, you know!”
At the beginning of Season One, McEntire was simultaneously filming the sitcom and The Voice!
As fans can see at home, the interviewer pointed out that Reba and Belissa have incredible chemistry on-screen. She asked the actress what their relationship is like off-screen.
“It’s exactly the same. And I’m saying that for the whole cast,” she said. “All the dynamics you see on screen are only elevated off screen and I think that’s why instantly with the first episode we were all like, ‘Ok, we’ve got something here.’”
Belissa reveals that although it may seem like she and Reba are old pals, they first met during a chemistry read while she was auditioning for the show. In fact, she had never met anyone from the cast before!
The first time the whole group was together was at the very first table read, which is incredible because all six actors have such a bond that it really does feel like they’ve all known each other for many years.
Well, we know that Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman have known each other for many years, seeing as they starred on Reba together from 2001-2007! And Rex Linn is Reba’s boyfriend of nearly five years, who she first met in 1990.
