In the last few years, football fans have noticed something very interesting about the Super Bowl logo.
For many years, the Super Bowl logo resembled the iconic Vince Lombardi trophy that the winners get to hoist over their heads: all silver, with a bit of color. For example, below is the logo for the 2021 Super Bowl, or Super Bowl LV, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play each other. The Buccaneers came out victorious 31-9.
For some reason, for the 2022 Super Bowl, the logos got an update. Super Bowl LVI was held in Los Angeles, California, and the teams who played were the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals. The logo has palm trees in it, representing the sunny city of Los Angeles, and the colors are a red-ish orange and yellow. Coincidentally, these colors are part of each team’s colors. The orange for the Bengals and yellow for the Rams.
The 2023 Super Bowl was held in Glendale, Arizona. The Super Bowl LVII logo has images of rocks which are found all over Arizona. This logo was colored red and teal. The teams that played in this game also wore red and teal – the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, it’s getting a bit freaky.
When the 2024 Super Bowl logo was released, fans wondered if the logo would depict the two teams that would play. It’s a long-running joke that the NFL is scripted and the league even leaned into that joke when they filmed a promo before the season started.
Super Bowl LVIII is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, on February 11, 2024, so the imagery within the logo of the famous Welcome to Vegas sign and other buildings makes total sense!
When it was first released, there were a few different scenarios that could make this conspiracy theory come to fruition.
The purple could only mean either the Minnesota Vikings or the Baltimore Ravens. Red could mean a few different teams – the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders, Houston Texans have a bit of red in their logo, and also the New England Patriots.
Now that there are only four teams left, the logo could only be a 49ers vs. Ravens game to continue the conspiracy!
For the NFC Championship game will see the 49ers play the Detroit Lions on Sunday, January 28, while the AFC Championship game will see the Chiefs play the Ravens. The winner of those game will battle it out in the Super Bowl.
This theory dates back to November 7, 2023 when the social media account NFL Memes posted this:

The tweet has been viewed nearly 9 million times.
But, as it turns out, this theory has been debunked! While the 49ers made it to Super Bowl LIII, the Ravens did not. The matchup will be between the 49ers and the Chiefs.
