Country Music’s Biggest Stars Perform During Opry 100
The Grand Ole Opry’s 100th anniversary is this year, and to kick off the year-long celebration, the venue aired a special televised event on Wednesday, March 19, titled Opry 100.
The event was broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry on NBC and streamed on Peacock.
An all-star lineup of nearly 40 artists performed during the show. The night included performances and duets from official members like Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yeardwood, Garth Brooks, Lainey Wilson, Brad Paisley, and many more.
Brad Paisley made his Grand Ole Opry debut on May 28, 1999. Just two years later, he was invited to join the organization by legendary Opry members Bill Anderson, Jeanie Seely, and Little Jimmy Dickens.
On February 17, 2001, Paisley was officially inducted by famed singer/songwriter and guitarist Steve Wariner.
During his induction ceremony, a special moment was shared when a letter written by George Jones to Paisley was read aloud. In the letter, Jones wrote, “I am counting on you to carry on the tradition and make folks sit up and listen to what good country music should sound like.”
When it was Brad Paisley’s turn to perform in honor of the Opry’s milestone birthday, he had a surprise guest join him. Bluegrass country singer Alison Krauss took the stage to duet with him on their 2003 hit “Whiskey Lullaby.”
Right before they began their performance, the Grand Ole Opry’s oldest member, Bill Anderson, took the stage to introduce them.
For those who don’t know, Anderson actually co-wrote “Whiskey Lullaby.”
