Grace Sturgis, a church located in southern Michigan shared footage of a 10-point buck that had broken into the church on Monday and was trying to get out.

Pastors Amanda and Luke Eicher and Justin Wickey were the first to arrive on the scene that morning and noticed there were signs that someone had broken into the building.

After investigating the situation, they found a 10-point buck inside the church that was taking refuge on what was interestingly enough, the opening day of Michigan state’s firearm deer hunting season.

“I was just shocked by how high he could jump,” Amanda told Click On Detroit. “I was amazed at how big he was.”

They all worked together to create a barricade in the hallway to try to keep the deer from wandering around the rest of the church. A video showed it walking through the auditorium trying to figure out how to escape its predicament.

Amanda filmed as the deer walked around until it eventually found a window it could jump through to make it back outside. The deer ran back off into the wilderness and according to church, the deer left stronger than when it came.

“There was some damage to the building and our pastors are a little traumatized. But the buck left strengthened in the Lord to go face his battles,” Grace Sturgis wrote on Facebook.
