Jeff Webb Died On March 19 At The Age Of 76

On March 19, 2026, the late Charlie Kirk’s mentor, Jeff Webb, passed away at the age of 76 after what has been described as a “freak pickleball” accident.

While playing the sport two weeks before his death, Webb sustained a severe head injury after falling down. He was hospitalized after the accident, and on March 19, his family made the difficult decision to remove life support, according to an email sent to Varsity Spirit employees by the company’s president, Bill Seely.

Webb’s death was confirmed by Varsity Spirit, a company he founded, which shared a tribute video to him alongside the caption, “Join us in honoring the life and legacy of Jeff Webb, founder of Varsity Spirit and modern cheerleading. His impact has built a community that will continue to inspire generations to come.”

Who Is Jeff Webb?

Jeff Webb is a businessman known for his contributions to the cheerleading world, earning him the nickname “the founding father of modern-day cheerleading.”

He founded the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA), Varsity Spirit, along with its parent company, Varsity Brands, and the International Cheer Union (ICU), the world governing body of the sport of cheerleading. He also served as president of the ICU.

Webb was also a conservative activist, the founder of The New American Populist, and a close friend and mentor to the late Charlie Kirk. He even spoke to several outlets after Kirk’s death about his legacy.

“Charlie was an amazing person. He was a generational leader, a generational talent,” Webb told One America News Network.

Webb was also present at the White House when Charlie Kirk was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which was accepted by his wife, Erika Kirk.

Turning Point USA released a 10-minute video honoring Webb and wrote, “In memory of Jeff Webb. A visionary who helped shape generations of young leaders and believed deeply in the power of community and country. A dear friend to Turning Point USA and Charlie. He will be greatly missed.”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
