Cody Johnson Is Back On The Road Following Multiple Cancellations
In September 2025, Cody Johnson was forced to postpone two shows due to illness, despite doing everything he could to recover in time. His symptoms included no ” singing voice; severe cough, burning chest and throat.“

Just several days later, on October 7th, Johnson revealed that he would have to cancel the rest of his 2025 tour dates due to a ruptured eardrum he suffered during his illness. In a statement released on social media, the country star wrote:
“It is with a very heavy heart I have to share the remainder of this year’s concert performances will not be able to happen. While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my eardrum.”
The “Dirt Cheap” singer revealed that he would have to undergo immediate surgery and recovery would take weeks, if not months.
Surgery went well, and he updated fans right after, saying that he should make a full recovery. He also let fans know that he added 2026 tour dates beginning in February, giving him plenty of time to recover.

Cody Johnson Has Made “God Bless America” A Staple At His Concerts
When Johnson kicked off his Leather Tour in January 2024, he included the Irving Berlin-written patriotic tune “God Bless America.”

Johnson continued the tradition on his Leather Deluxe Tour in 2025 and now again in 2026. No matter how many times we see him sing the song, it always gives us chills and makes us proud to be Americans.
During his first shows since his eardrum surgery, he led the Birmingham, Alabama crowd in a sing-along version of “God Bless America.” According to a concert-goer, he “honored our military, law enforcement and first responders” during this performance.
According to a Facebook user who shared a video of Johnson leading the “God Bless America” sing-along, there were 10,000 concert-goers singing with him, but the venue holds closer to 19,000 for concerts, so we imagine the number was much higher!
