When country fans heard the song “Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck”, they couldn’t get enough. It soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and Kip Moore became a country star.
“Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck” was included on Moore’s debut album Up All Night, which was a massive hit. The album also included Gold-certified “Beer Money” and Platinum-certified “Hey Pretty Girl”.
For a couple years, Moore struggled with his sophomore album. He had an entire album recorded, but when the first two singles did not do as well as he hoped, Moore scrapped the whole album to compose new material.
That new material became Wild Ones, which was released on August 21, 2015.
In an interview with ET Canada, Moore reveals that he was actually battling depression during the process of making his latest album, Wild Ones.
“I’ll always be honest with the fans,” he says. “I literally had a hard fight with depression while making this record. It was a tough time in my life. There were a lot of days where it was hard for me to get out of bed and I can’t quite explain that to people who don’t go through, but it’s something I’m just now crawling out of.”
The success of his album is surely helping. Wild Ones debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and No. 4 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
He also recently announced a headlining tour for the fall with special guest Jon Pardi.
