After one of the most heated controversies to ever strike The Voice, this star comes back at Adam Levine for doing something he “just [doesn’t] respect.”

During one of the more recent airings of NBC’s hit singing competition, coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton each had contestants who got stuck in the bottom three spots for fan votes that week. Levine had two spots and Shelton had one.

But only two people performed…

Even though both Reagan Strange and DeAndre Nico from Team Adam were up on the chopping block with Blake’s Dave Fenley – only DeAndre Nico performed and fought for his chance to stay.

Strange had fallen ill and could not perform, according to the show, but even though she couldn’t fight for her right to stay – somehow she ended up winning the vote and sending both of the guys home.

And that’s where it gets a little hairy.

During the final comments before voting was opened, Levine applauded Nico’s performance and then went into a rolling speech about why the young girl who was sick should be saved instead.

“There is an unbelievably talented little girl right now who is not able to fight for her position on this show,” Levine said, adding that he is a father to two baby girls. “The thought of breaking her heart by not urging everyone to give this girl a shot to go and redeem herself next week would be too far beneath me.”

After the voting began, fans took to Twitter and other social media sources demanding Levine be fired for showing extreme bias and taking the side of a contestant who couldn’t even compete. Some even said she should have been eliminated due to that – but, in the end, she stayed in the competition and the other two were axed from the show.

In the time since this all went down and absolutely exploded on social media, Nico has kept pretty quiet – until now.

He went on the record with 12 News Now in his hometown of Port Arthur, Texas and called out Levine for his actions that everyone watched live on television.

“It was just weird,” he began. “I’m not being rude. I just felt like he sold me out… and I just don’t respect it. I’m just being honest.”

Adding that he had just gotten over laryngitis before his own performance, he expressed that he felt like Levine left him high and dry while his coach supported another teammate.

“I know that [Reagan’s] a little kid,” Nico continued. “But it’s like, ‘Man, [Adam,] you could have put some words in for me at all, like something!’”

To watch the video of what Adam Levine said is a bit awkward and it’s always sad to see someone so talented go home.
