Is The Kayce Dutton Spin-Off Ready To Start Filming? A New Post From Actor Luke Grimes Suggests Exactly That…
Yellowstone fans have been watching Luke Grimes’ social media posts for hints that he’s started working on the Kayce Dutton spin-off series. Then, on July 25, he shared a post that seemingly teases what people have been waiting to hear.
Grimes is an actor and country singer. In mid-July, he performed at the Under The Big Sky music festival in Montana, marking his last show of the year. Following the performance, Grimes thanked the festival for having him out and hinted about what’s next on his plate.
“Thanks @underthebigskyfestival for having us back for our last show of the year (gotta go do my other job for a while),” he said. “This festival feels like home. Thanks to my band for believing in this music we make. Thanks to the music lovers who come out and bring out the energy in us. I can’t believe I get to experience all of this.”

By “other job,” fans assumed Grimes was referring to his acting career. Many hoped he was suggesting that filming will soon start on the show Y: Marshals, a spin-off centered on his Yellowstone character, Kayce Dutton.
Grimes hasn’t said much about the new show yet. He has mentioned how “bizarre” it will be to leave Yellowstone behind in favor of a spin-off. He also teased the involvement of some “familiar faces” in the new series.
While an exact release date has not been named, Y: Marshals aims to debut in the Spring of 2026 and will air on CBS.
More Yellowstone Spin-Offs And Other Taylor Sheridan Projects Are In The Works
In addition to the Kayce Dutton spin-off, several other Yellowstone shows are coming down the pipeline. Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler are getting their own spin-off. Plus, there will be a new connected series called The Madison starring Michelle Pfeiffer.
There’s also been talk about another prequel series, tentatively titled 1944, since the previous series, 1923, ended in April of this year (2025).
Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan also has several other projects in the works. The second season of Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton, is expected to debut in December. New seasons for two other Sheridan series, Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown, will premiere in September and October, respectively.
To top it off, Sheridan is an executive producer on the new competition series The Road. The show will follow 12 aspiring musicians as they receive mentorship from Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, and Gretchen Wilson while learning what it takes to be a touring artist. Watch a teaser for The Road below.
