Will we see the return of one of Yellowstone’s most notorious villains? Or is it just wishful thinking?

Neal McDonough’s character in Yellowstone, named Malcolm Beck, appeared in season 2 of the hit series.

His character was a real estate mogul trying to compete with the Dutton family and the Native American tribe. Specifically, Thomas Rainwater, the tribe’s leader, when he aimed to build a casino in the town. Beck’s villainous character is remembered as one of the worst in Yellowstone because of his violent and racist nature.

Notably, he kidnaps Tate, John Dutton’s grandson.

This kidnapping in season 2 affects Tate’s development throughout the rest of the season and leads to PTSD, shaping the young character.

Beck initially kidnaps Tate to gain power over the Dutton family.

However, during a violent shootout between John Dutton and Malcolm Beck, John finds out where Tate is hidden and sends police with Kayce Dutton to rescue him. John manages to obtain this information after shooting Beck multiple times and threatening his life if he doesn’t reveal Tate’s location.

Beck eventually releases the information, and John says he will get him a helicopter to the hospital, to which Beck responds that he will not make it, leaving him alone in the field to die.

So why does he think his character might be alive after all that?

In a recent interview with Collider, Neal McDonough, the actor who portrayed Malcolm Beck, points out that no one actually saw his character die in that field, meaning that he could potentially return for one of the upcoming Yellowstone spinoffs.

He said,

Yes, Malcolm Beck is not dead. No one saw him actually die in the field. I would love to see him come back and cause havoc with Rip because Cole Hauser was one of my dearest pals, and there’s nothing I would love more than to go toe to toe with Cole on the show. So, I’m open for that one. Everyone’s got to write in to Taylor saying, ‘Bring Malcolm Beck back!’”

The actor seems definitive in his belief that his character is not dead and could return for one of the spinoffs that have been promised to fans. However, is that just wishful thinking? Or is he hinting at something that fans do not yet know?

The return of Beck’s infamous villain character could make for very interesting TV, especially with a potentially grown-up Tate and Kayce Dutton’s new spinoff Y:Marshals.

Why does Neal McDonough always play the villain?

The famous actor once gave a speech that went viral on the internet, explaining why he has not portrayed a love interest on screen but rather always ends up as the villain.

Although he has had some iconic roles, McDonough chooses to play the villain because of his love for his wife and God.

He says that when he kills someone on screen, everyone goes home that night happy and alive because he obviously did not actually kill anyone.

However, when he kisses someone on screen, he’s kissing someone other than his wife, and he believes that that is not the right thing to do.
