Multiple LA Residents Are Reporting Miracles
The fires that have terrorized Los Angeles residents are still raging through the iconic city.
The Eaton Fire has destroyed 14,170 acres and is 45% contained, according to the latest reports from Cal Fire.
However, projected winds could exacerbate the situation in the coming days.
Although nothing can make a tragedy like this easier for the residents of Los Angeles, there are two stories of hope that people are clinging to during this difficult time. One involves Enrique El Rey, an Altadena resident living in the county currently affected by the Eaton Fire.
Enrique recently went viral on TikTok after appearing in a news broadcast by 7 News Australia, where he became emotional, sharing that his home was still standing, even though his entire neighborhood had burned to the ground.
Standing amidst the rubble with tears in his eyes, he said:
“I shouldn’t be crying because my entire block is burnt down, but God saved my house. Why are all of my neighbors, why are they in the middle of two burnt-down blocks? There’s one house standing and that’s mine.”

Enrique shared a video of his neighborhood, which showed that his house was completely unscathed while the rest of the area had burned down.
He expressed his grief for his neighbors and gratitude for his own protection. Enrique was clearly shocked and confused about why he emerged from the situation, mostly unharmed, while his neighbors did not share his fortunate outcome.
He said:
“The garage is even still standing. I don’t understand how this happened. This is God. Not because I feel I deserve it either. I just don’t know. But God protected me.”
Without any explanation regarding why the fire skipped his house or how it happened, he turned to God. He believed that divine intervention protected him. Although he couldn’t understand why he was spared while others were not, he found the moment deeply moving.

Another Man Shared His Miracle Of Saving Home Amidst Fire
In the same county but in a different neighborhood, 69-year-old Makas Dasigenis shared that he believed God saved his home. Although his story is slightly different, he shared that:
“I evacuated, but I was watching some news clippings, and I realized the fires are out of control. So I decided to come and take a look, and there was nobody on the way back. Nobody. It was like eerie.” He continued on to say, “And it’s just like I knew it could be done. I mean, I’m not stupid. I did not want to come here to die for possessions, but I knew it was doable, and I would feel bad if I didn’t try, you know?”
The 69-year-old man put a hose in his neighbor’s pool and, with incredible courage, fought off the fires and saved his house as well as the house of two of his neighbors.
Makas took action into his own hands and fought off a raging fire with a single garden house.
However, the man does not see it that way. He attests to his home being saved to God, saying, “God helped me,” and later promises to return to Greece to light a candle for his creator.
Whether you believe that divine intervention, luck, or another factor saved the homes, the survival of these two houses offers a small testament of hope amid a terrible tragedy.
