After a fun-filled day of outdoor adventures, these two country music stars sat down on the porch to take some time singing songs and telling stories – but it was a song that Hank Williams Jr. chose that really brought everything full circle.
As part of a CMT outdoors special, Hank Jr. and Lee Ann Womack spent the day on his boat in the Gulf of Mexico fishing and they hit it off right away! When they’d had their fun and wrapped up their catch for the day, the two returned to his waterside cabin and recalled some of their favorite country music memories.
Hank Jr. sat down with his guitar and noted that the evening was simply perfect – then jumped into an acoustic rendition of Waylon Jennings’ and his duet, “The Conversation”.
By the time he had put the finishing touches on this impromptu performance for Womack, she clutched her chest and shook her head, saying “You have no idea”, clearly choked up. He deep connection to the song and story from some of country music’s biggest legends was clear simply from her reaction.
The two sat back and beamed at each other because they both have similar connections to the song with Jennings’ having been a longtime friend of Hank Jr.
