Jamal Roberts Brought The Heat With A Carrie Underwood Classic
The competition for the winner of American Idol Season 23 is heating up. The field has narrowed from ten contestants to eight. Each week, the singers fight for their place in the competition as it becomes increasingly intense.
This week, two remarkable singers, Kolbi Jordan and Canaan James Hill, who were Platinum Ticket winners, have been eliminated.
Jamal Roberts has made it into the top eight and performed Carrie Underwood’s “Undo It” to try and secure a spot in the top six, which will be announced on Monday night, May 5th. Some other contestants that made it to the top eight include Slater Nalley, Thunderstorm Artis, John Foster, Josh King, and Gabby Samone.
This week’s theme on Idol was “Ladies Night,” and it honored some of the best women in music, including Carrie Underwood, who once won American Idol herself. The guest judge was Miranda Lambert, who sang her hit Kerosene, in honor of the song’s 20th anniversary.

Jamal Roberts Sings Carrie Underwood’s Hit In Front Of Her And She Loved It
Lambert helped Jamal refine the song and make it his own, bringing his signature runs and large range to the chorus.
Walking out on stage in an all-black outfit and cowboy hat, he sang a chill-inducing rendition of Carrie’s hit. Underwood and Lambert danced throughout the performance.
After his performance, the judges were very impressed with his cover. Carrie Underwood even put on the singer’s hat after the performance.
Lionel Richie said he was “mesmerizing.”
At the beginning of the song, it seemed that Jamal missed a couple of lyrics, but he recovered well, and Underwood said, “Who cares?” because she loved the performance so much.
