“The Queen of Covers” proved yet again who owns the throne in a tribute to country legend Hank Williams. In a special “Smoakstack Session,” pop singer Kelly Clarkson tested her country limits in an enchanting rendition of Williams’ classic “Your Cheatin’ Heart.”
In tune with the original, Clarkson started the song out in a slow manner portraying the hurt of the lover scorned before transitioning into quick-paced melody adding a powerful punch to the original. Clarkson’s rendition of the the classic break-up song makes for an ispriing song any broken heart can find solace and strength in.
“Your Cheatin’ Heart” was written and recorded by Williams in 1952 and was met with high success quickly reaching No.1 on Top C&W Records chart. The song came about after a conversation Williams had regarding his first wife Audrey Sheppard whom he described possessed a “cheatin’ heart.”
