Jake Owen Shares About Recent Remarks His New Cybertruck Has Garnered
“This thing is bad*ss — like a freaking spaceship,” country star Jake Owen said of his new Tesla Cybertruck. “I don’t even have to drive it. I take my hands off the wheel, it drives me.”
While the Tesla Cybertruck may have a self-driving function, Jake took to social media twice over the past couple days to discuss how his Cybertruck is also driving other people crazy.
Since the 2024 election, which saw Tesla CEO Elon Musk support the campaign of President Donald Trump, Tesla vehicles have been targeted by some opponents of the Trump administration.
Some people have targeted Tesla dealerships, and others have been vandalizing Tesla vehicles when they encounter them in parking lots.
Not even Jake Owen is immune from this trend, as he shared on social media on July 22 and July 23 about two different experiences he’s had with his new Cybertruck.
“F— You, Traitor!”
“For those that know me, I love cars,” Jake said in his July 22 Instagram video.
Prefacing his story on how he came to be the proud owner of a Tesla Cybertruck, Jake went through his climb to notoriety as a country artist, stating, “I drove to Nashville in a 2000 Toyota 4Runner, my mom was with me … Long story short, I got a record deal and I’ve had a few different cars.”
Noting that he still has “some cool” cars, he went on to say, “Never in my life have I experienced some s*** like this.”
From there, Jake went on to compare the experience of driving his Toyota 4Runner to that of his new Cybertruck, detailing how his 4Runner recently compelled a complete stranger to spark up a conversation with him about how great 4Runners are.
This conversation took place at a Starbucks, and it couldn’t have been more different than the vibe of the interaction he had with a stranger when he drove his Cybertruck to the Starbucks.
“Fast forward a few days later, I drive my Cybertruck and pull up at Starbucks and this guy is kind of staring at me funny,” he said, clarifying this was a different stranger than the one he had previously met.
When the man asks him if the Cybertruck he’s driving is his, Jake replied, “Yeah, I mean, I am driving it.”
This interaction ended with the man yelling at Jake, “F— you, traitor!”
He concluded, saying, “I guess if you want to get picked on, drive a Cybertruck. If you don’t want to get picked on, just go back to the 2000 Toyota 4Runner.”

A Handwritten Note
The anti-Cybertruck experience continued for Jake on July 23, with the singer showing a handwritten note that he and his daughter, Pearl, found on the car’s windshield when they returned to the vehicle after enjoying a meal at a restaurant.
