Taylor Sheridan Spends His Money Like A True Cowboy

They say the best thing to write about is what you know.

Well, Taylor Sheridan has amassed a fortune doing just that.

Sheridan’s cowboy TV series has made him over 70 million dollars in the last few years.

He is spending it on things that you would assume a cowboy would, such as horses, ranches, and cowboy hats.

The actor turned writer has built a TV empire that began with his hit show Yellowstone. Since then, it has evolved into an entire universe with prequels and spin-offs. Starting with 1883, which was the origin story of the Dutton family, the main family in the Yellowstone universe, then followed by 1923, which is the continuation of the prequel and tells the tale of the family in the American West.

He has created many other shows unrelated to the Yellowstone universe, including The Landman, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown.

This brings us to what Sheridan spends his money on, mainly an entire ranch.

Sheridan bought the 6666 ranch in early 2022.

The historic ranch is located in Guthrie, Texas, and spans 266,000 acres. It was previously owned by Anne Burnett Marion, who passed away in 2020. In her will, she deemed the ranch to be sold when she passed, and Sheridan was the first to get the call.

“I said, ‘How much?’ They said, ‘It’s $350 million.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m about 330 short. But please, you thought enough to call me, will you give me two weeks?’”

He was able to attain a group of investors and purchase the land.

Since his 2022 purchase, Sheridan had ramped up his production on shows. He shared that, “I do the shows for the ranch.”

In an unsurprising turn of events, Sheridan has spent his money on a second ranch where he and his family live. According to MarketWatch, “Back in 2013, he purchased Bosque Ranch for $264 million as a base for his family when they relocated to Texas from Los Angeles.”

Hats, ranches and last but not least horses.

Sheridan does not spend his money on cars or planes; instead, he buys like a true cowboy and spends his excess cash on cattle and horses.

He shared that,

“The main headquarters where we live is more of a horse ranch, because I’m pretty deep into the horse deal. And then the ranch out by Jacksboro is more where we run the cattle.” He continued by saying, “I’m very fortunate in that I have some very nice Angus cattle. As far as my horses go, I supply most of the horses to ‘Yellowstone,’ my TV show,” he explained. “And then I have horses that I show and breed. Right now, I’ve got probably as many horses as I have cattle. And I have too many horses.”
