Country singer Lauren Alaina got the chance to dance many times on Dancing with the Stars in 2019, and she kept getting better with each passing week!
Alaina’s debut dance was a cha-cha to Shania Twain‘s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.” Her sophomore routine was a paso doble performed to Demi Lovato’s “Confident.”
She earned a score of 19 for both dances, placing her in a good spot score-wise within the pack of contestants.
The judges’ scores and viewer votes sent Alaina into the third week of the competition, which was the first themed week of the season. DWTS had the contestants perform “Movie Night” themed routines, meaning that all of their dances were connected to a song from a famous movie.
Alaina danced to the Roy Orbison classic, “Pretty Woman,” which was featured in the 1990 film of the same name. The movie starred Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
“It Must Have Been Love” in my head. It’s a key song in the new movie “Long Shot” because of the boost it got on the Pretty Woman soundtrack, which was in my car CD changer for months.
Question: Your all-time soundtrack? And will we ever listen to movie music in the same way? pic.twitter.com/RghAnHyroW— Pat Kiernan (@patkiernan) May 14, 2019
Alaina was assigned the tango for her “Pretty Woman” dance with her professional partner Gleb Savchenko. The start of the routine had Savchenko on stage in a fancy car, dressed as Gere’s businessman character. Alaina was dressed like Roberts’ character in the film, and placed her foot of Savchenko’s car to show off some leg.
Savchenko then gets out of the car and joins Alaina for the traditional tango part of the dance, which the judges clearly enjoyed. They gave the pair a 20 for their routine, which was Alaina’s best score on DWTS up to that point.
