Country singer Lauren Alaina has a message for those shaming women’s bodies.
Lauren and her husband Cam Arnold welcomed their first child earlier this year, a baby girl named Beni Doll Arnold. Beni was born on June 11th and since then Lauren has been vocal about her postpartum journey.
Just months after giving birth, Lauren posted a video to her Instagram, letting fans know that she was training to run a 10k.
“I am training for a 10k. I started training at 10 weeks postpartum, 10k at 10 weeks,” she said in the video. “I figured you’d like to follow along on my journey, see if I actually do it,” she added.
The 31 year old isn’t only busy as a first-time mom, but she’s also returned to work and has taken little Beni along with her. The “Getting Over Him” singer has said how much she loves being a mommy and chasing her dreams of being a performer.
Lauren Alaina Stands Up To Those Criticizing Her Weight
Although Lauren radiates confidence both on stage and in her new role as a mom, she recently opened up about her thoughts on how she believes the world speaks about women.
“We need to retire the obsession with women’s bodies,” Lauren wrote on Instagram.
In the video, the country star shares a story about watching a TikTok clip where the comments were focused entirely on her size. Lauren said that just months postpartum, she couldn’t believe what she was reading.
“If you care about the music…talk about the music,” she continued. “If you don’t…. well, that’s fine too.”
Lauren then opened up about her past history with an eating disorder, saying she fought hard to overcome her mental battle with weight.
“…this culture of speculating about women’s bodies? It’s tired. Do better,” Lauren said.
